Day 2

Riviere-du-Loup, QC to Gaspe, QC

Prev -- Next

Today, we covered something like 300 miles, traveling from Riviere-du-Loup (a ways North East of Quebec City) to Gaspe all the way at the end of the Gaspe Peninsula.

Apparently, the Gaspe Peninsula is the place where many French Canadians go on their vacations... From what we've seen so far, it does NOT appear to be frequented nearly so much by non-French speakers.

Fortunately, most everyone we've dealt with understood enough English to help us muddle through. It seems to help when I apologize for being a stupid American who does not speak any French.

I suppose that's ok since it's true... almost, I can just about manage "no fromage si vous ples" (no cheese please)

Rusty old anchor chain... pretty much bonded to the anchor at this point
This little red lighthouse was along the coastline - it's actually up the side of a hill. There's a small lighthouse museum thing there, but we just parked and shot some photos
Lots of these old anchors and other nautical stuff are on display in front yards and at public spots. This one was pretty huge.
