  • While driving on the "highway", we'd often see small side roads and/or driveways leading off into who-knows-what? This was actually one of the more "civilized" loking ones... they even appear to have phone and power lines.

  • Again, sorry for the slight blurryness here - moving car dontchyaknow? This kind of semi-barren, craggy tundra looking stuff was also a fairly common sight.

  • A bit blurry in the foreground because this was shot out the side window of our moving car. This is typical of the sights to be seen.

  • Other than the road itself, sometimes, microwave relay towers like these were our only proof of civilization... no damn cell service for a LONG while though. Not the right kind of antennas here.

  • Mister Slow Cattle Rack (Our nickname for the silver Cadillac in front) was kind of creating a mini-traffic jam. He wasn't really ~that~ slow, in fact, he'd kind of speed up every time we'd find a likely safe passing zone... just enough so that we'd have to drive pretty illegally to get 'round him. Eventually, he turned off for gas or something.

  • Even on the straight bits, there's quite a bit of up and down. Since the highway is largely one-lane, it sucks getting stuck behind a slowbie. Gotta pick your passing places carefully.

  • Not too long after leaving Sudbury... there are lots of nice curvy bits on the road, making for very enjoyable driving.

  • This piece of driftwood at Thessalon on the North Channel of Lake Huron just really grabbed me. I took a lot of photos of it, but it wasn't until I got home and could really play with it that I got the exact settings and tone I wanted. 3 exposure HDR.

  • There's just something very satisfying for me about a good piece of driftwood. All the better that this was posing at such a lovely angle.

  • I just love the interface of sky, water, sand, and rock. Low and wide... they always look better low and wide.

  • We'd been skipping along the shores of Lake Huron for a lot of miles... the urge to take photos was finally too much. This was just the first place where we managed to wrangle our way close enough to the shore while stopping somewhere safe.

  • I've taken much better photographs in my day, but I'm including this because they're Lenticular clouds... not all that common or so I'm told
